RV Extended Warranties – We have looked at the investment of these products every way possible. You can read consumers reports. Talk to people that have them, Talk to people that wished the had them and talk to people that will never have them. Have I bought products in the past that I was glad I bought and extended warranty on, yes. My 2010 Ford F150 Platinum I bought an extended warranty for from Ford, not from my original dealer, though from another dealer that was willing to sell the exact same warranty contract from Ford for $1,000 less. This warranty saved me over $7,000 in repair bills the first 5 years of ownership. In contrast I bough a very inexpensive warranty on some furniture in the past which wasn’t worth the paper it was printed due to the hassle of doing business and trying to get a claim paid. While I am not one of the those pole that buys Extended Service plans on everythigb I do consider the products use, expense to repair, and possible exposure for cost of repairs very carefully on an individual basis. When it came my 2017 Newmar Baystar I knew right away I would;t buy a warranty form the dealer though would look to source the best product available in the market on my own. After much due diligence and research it was clear the company I was going to do business with was “Wholesale Warranties”. Their professionalism, customer service, value, and flexibility was hands down the best in the industry. At soempoint I will go into greater lengths on the differences in RV extended warranties though for now just take my word and cal them and they will absolutely win your business for the right reasons.
RV Insurance – Well this one isn’t an option, it is required and for good reason. Heaven forbid you have an accident and don’t have the right insurance company behind you. Wether you are very carful operator or a yahoo behind the wheel each us needs to have the right protection in place, just in case. I can tell you from experience you never know when you are going to need your insurance company especially when it isn’t your fault at all and you still get sued. Several years ago I was stopped on a road to turn left and unexpectantly the person behind me didn’t stop and plowed into my vehicle at 50+ miles per hour. That wasn’t the worst part, as they hit me so hard they forced me into on coming traffic where I was hit head on by another vehicle traveling 50+miles per hour. Then a 4th vehicle behind the person that hit me head on rammed into their rear and completed the domino effect accident. Fortunately the air bags saved most of us though all us us had injuries, some very serious. The effects of that accident took nearly 7 years to get taken of and mitigate.. I did end up with a severe neck injury but it was the court issues that dogged me for years. Turns out that the person that hit me first, in the rear, (clearly the repressible party in the accident) had very limited coverage and little assets and then claimed bankruptcy. The bottom line was I had the best insurance coverage and people got attorneys and went after me and my insurance company. Even though I was not at fault it took nearly 7 years of litigation and finally a CT Supreme Court positive decision to exonerate me. In addition I had to go after my own insurance company for my claim and coverage under my Un insured/Under insured part of my policy because the other person had very limited coverage. Fortunately I had a good insurance company. I tell that story just so you know how important it is to have a good insurance company behind you and your RV. The company I have my personal insurance with is AARP “The Hartford” still . they have great rates, customer service and I am thankful how they took care of me with the ordeal. My RV insurance is through Explorer RV Insurance Agency. I recommended both of these companies for you insurance needs.
RV Roadside Assistance – Well I have been carrying a AAA card fro years and it has helped me a few times. Probably has helped me get discounts at certain shopping sites more than anything and a piece of mind just in case for al the family members. I’ve carried it more out of habit than anything else. When it came to RV insurance I decided to do some additional research and quickly realized the company I wanted for this was Coach-Net . In 2015 my wife and I decided to take a camping trip to New Foundland/Labrador. The journey would also takes us through New England, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Because this trip was taking us to some pretty remote areas I really figured that a good road-side service company might be a prudent investment. A few days before our July 9, 2015 departure I signed up for Coach-net. The ink literally hadn’t dried on my self printed membership card when we were o=involved the most unfortunate of events the first night of this 5 week trip. We had decided to take the ferry from Portland, Me to Yarmouth, NS which would save use a lot of miles and time and allow us to explore a part of Nova Scotia that we hadn’t visited yet. As we were loading onto the ferry we were following another RVer in front of us to the center lane of the ship. Suddenly one of the deck hands started insisting we needed to go in the left hand lane next to the bulk-head. I insisted several times that I would prefer to stay in the lane I was in though their was no reasoning with the deck hand in charge of directions. As I proceeded into the left hand lane unbeknownst to me their was a cage hanging down form the ceiling which my RV roof was too tall to clear. Before I knew it we had pout a 9 foot long hole in our RV roof. Well it doing some doing to finally get us unstuck and then everyone had to inspect the damage. It was bad to say the least. This was the first day of the trip, we were headed to a remote area of a foreign country and we had a tremendous hole in our roof . After getting pictures and taking care of the necessary logistics related to the accident I then realized I needed to figure out what we were going to do when we landed 12 hours from then in Nova Scotia. I really only had about 20 minutes of cell service before we were going to be in th open ocean. I called Coach -Net and they assumed me they were going to figure it out for me. They made sure we were safe, they gathered the necessary information, and then they said to contact them when we lane din Nova Scotia and they would have plan to effort a solution for us. They seemed confident they could figure something out. Well they spent considerable time during our crossing . I’m sure though when we contacted 12 hours later they had a place to take our unit too that insisted they could do an emergency repair on our unit immediately and get us watertight so we could cognate on our next 16 hour ferry to New Foundland. The service center was some distance from us and required us to modify our plan considerable bit Coach-net, and the service center delivered as they promised with a good temporary fix and we were able to get back on the road and enjoy the next 5 weeks of camping. Coach-Net is a first class RV Road Assistance program that will cover your RV and your tow car. I can tell you I won’t travel again without them.
